Recently, Apple finally announced its second-generation Airpods, it has been 3 years since the first generation Airpods debuted in the market. When the Airpods1 launched in 2016, this kind of earphone that without cable connection to the earbuds seemed like a new innovation of Phone’s headset.
So, what’s improved in the new generation of the Airpods compared to the previous one, and what same functions was remained? The new lineup of the Airpods series worth buying? Today we will make a comparison of these 2 generation’s products and reveal something might be came to us in the future.
AirPods 1 Vs AirPods 2
Now with more talk time, voice-activated Siri access – and a new wireless charging case – AirPods deliver an unparalleled wireless headphone experience. Simply take them out and they’re ready to use with all your devices. Put them in your ears and they connect immediately, immersing you in rich, high-quality sound. Just like magic.
Price of the new and old
The new generation of Airpods has a same $159 price tag as the old one, but this time, the new Airpods was released along with 2 other different items, an Airpods with wireless charging case and a wireless charging case for Airpods. That is mean that Apple launched 3 items of Airpods.
The Airpods with wireless charging case price is $199, which is $40 more expensive than the non-wireless charging version. Besides, Apple sells the wireless charging case separately for $79, so if you own the first-generation Airpods and you are looking forward to the wireless charging function on your Airpods, then you can buy the wireless charging case then fit your need.
Apple’s new AirPods can be ordered on Apple’s website and will be available in Apple Stores and resellers from March 26, 2019. Apple no longer lists first-generation AirPods on its website, but you should be able to find them elsewhere online at a lower price now that the new AirPods are available.
The new design of the AirPods2
The second-generation Airpods look identical to the first-generation model, save for a single LED on the front of the Wireless Charging Case. This light will tell you the charging status of the AirPods when you place them on a Qi-compatible charging mat. On the standard charging case, which came with the original AirPods, the LED was inside the lid between where the two AirPods go.
In addition, the new version offers the engraving service, custom laser engraving available exclusively online. So you can text any words you want to show in the case.
Apple’s second-generation AirPods use a new proprietary chip called the H1, whereas the original AirPods run on the W1 chip.
Powered by the all-new Apple H1 headphone chip, AirPods use optical sensors and motion accelerometers to detect when they’re in your ears. Whether you’re using both AirPods or just one, the H1 chip automatically routes the audio and engages the microphone.
And when you’re on a call or talking to Siri, an additional speech-detecting accelerometer works with beamforming microphones to filter out external noise and focus on the sound of your voice.
In addition, the H1 chip delivers up to 30 percent lower latency, which means you should experience fewer delays between onscreen events and their accompanying audio when playing games.
Wireless charging and AirPower charging pad
With the long-term development of the phone charging technology, we have reached a great achievement and make our phone charging more convenient. Wireless charging becomes a new trend in this era, because of the maturing of the wireless charging, most of the new handsets are compatible for wireless charging function.
Back when Apple first announced the AirPower charging pad in 2017, it was presented as an elegant. Instead of fumbling for a wire or three, AirPower promised to let you just drop your Apple Watch, your iPhone, and your AirPods on a charging pad and pick them up, fully charged, in the morning.
Though 2 years have passed, Apple still has not released its AirPower to Apple’s fans. But interestingly, when on the date Apple releases its new generation of AirPods, the AirPower image with iPhone XS and new AirPods discovered on Apple site. After a short time, Apple hidden this image on its site. But the HTML and CSS references remain for now. Who knows when AirPower will show up for real?
Several factors will affect your wireless charging
Wireless charging technology provides a new method to charge your phone in a new style, but sometimes, when we will meet a situation that can not make our handsets work perfectly on a wireless charging pad, it is embarrassing. So, do you know what reasons can affect your wireless charging?
Metal material will impede the power transmission
Qi wireless charging transmits the electricity through an electromagnetic field, and the metal can interfere with this transmission process. For this reason, the new iPhone or Samsung flagship handset, such as iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone XS and Samsung Galaxy 10 series all use glass material to replace the metal material to compatible with the wireless charging.
If you put a metal device on the wireless charging pad, it may cause some native effects include inadequate wireless charging, overheating of equipment and permanent damage, etc. But most of the smart phones equip the wireless charging function are all made of glass back.2.
The quality of the wireless charger
In addition, the other important reason will affect the wireless charging is the wireless charger itself. There are a lot of wireless chargers in the market and you may buy a low-quality wireless charger because of the manufacture limits the budget. The process to make a wireless charger is quite similar.
However, the differences in the design, such as the consumption of each contact of the circuit design will directly affect the charging efficiency. So when we are choosing a wireless charger, we should read the descriptions and details of the wireless charger carefully, it is better to chose from a popular brand such as Anker and Huawei.
Heavy duty phone case stops the wireless charging
Except for the factors of the smart phone and the wireless charger, the phone case may be one of the problems to make an effect on wireless charging. As long as the new iPhone uses a non-metallic protective case, it can be wirelessly charged. Since 2014, the Qi standard has allowed the device to work without direct contact with the charging pad.
But a larger protective case may result in an inability to connect between the device and the charging pad. Depending on the charging device the user is using, the higher-priced models may be more powerful and can penetrate all the protective cases.
Ultra thin iPhone Case that friendly to the wireless charging pad
For increasing the better experience of wireless charging and reducing the heavy duty of the phone case, RANVOO provide a kind of iPhone case that was called Rainbow Series Cases. This case adds minimal bulk to the phone and has a nice texture to it which feels good and adds enough grip.
The basic protection provides protection for daily commuting usage. The matte finish back protects the phone from scratches, fingerprints or damage of minor drops. More importantly, this case only has 1mm thickness so that it can perfectly suit for the wireless charging pad and make the wireless charging transmission easier.
